What is Jikiden Reiki?

Jikiden Reiki is Reiki as it was when it was first used, free from Western influence. It feels pure, simple, grounded and it is extremely effective.

Coming from a background of fascinating Japanese culture, in which nature, and our connection with it lies at the heart of life, Jikiden Reiki can become an integral part of your everyday living. Anyone can learn this natural ability to promote healing in themselves and others and no one person is more worthy than another. In fact, Mikao Usui, the founder of this method is quoted as saying that every living thing can do this - which pretty much counts us all in I think.

This site is designed to give you a comprehensive understanding of what Jikiden Reiki is, how it can help you and where it comes from. Please take a look around. There are several videos on the site, the first is the short video below explaining a little about Jikiden Reiki.

Why Jikiden Reiki?

There are so many kinds of Reiki available today that it can feel daunting trying to choose which one is for you. It's important to go with the type and the teacher that feels right to you.

I spent a long time waiting to find the right teacher for me and what drew me to Jikiden Reiki was the feeling I had on meeting the teachers (the Yamaguchis) the simplicity of the method - unchanged from the original method learned by Chiyoko Yamaguchi and her family, the quality of the theoretical concepts they were teaching and the experience they held in successfully treating people year after year using only Reiki. Chiyoko Yamaguchi first learned Reiki in 1937 when she was 17 years old and had been giving treatments and teaching for more than 60 years.

I was not only attracted to the Yamaguchi's experience with Reiki, it was their kindness and their love and compassion for others, along with their passion for Reiki that told me these were the teachers and this was the Reiki for me.  As I lived in Kyoto, Japan, at the time, I was lucky enough to be able to study Jikiden Reiki there for nearly 4 years.

I have been able to help others since taking Amanda's course, in particular my close friend who passed away recently.  I feel also that it has helped me in dealing with my own stresses and everyday life.  OW
